1. Identify: A. Osiris- Ruled the underworld and was the god of the Nile. B. Isis- Taught women to grind corn, spin flax, weave cloth, and care for children. C. Amon-Re- The sun god or chief god. D. Akhenaton- He devoted his life to the god, Aton. He tried to sweep away all other gods but Aton. E. Tutankhamen- A minor king who was 18 when he died. F. Jean Champollion- Discovered and translated the Rosetta Stone. G. Rosetta Stone- A flat, black stone with engravings on it in three different languages. H. The Tale of Sinuhe- A folk tale about an Egyptian official who fights his way to fame with uncivilized desert people. 2. Define: A. Mummification- The preservation of the dead. B. Hieroglyphics- A form of picture writing. C. Ideograms- Pictures that symbolized an idea or action.
