On the arrival of the Europeans to North America in 1492, a great transformation in the global ecosystem began resulting from the exchange of agricultural goods, livestock, slave labor, contagious diseases, and ideas between the Eastern and Western hemispheres. This interchange of native life-forms was called the Columbian Exchange. It has been one of the significant events in the history of world ecology, agriculture, and culture that has transformed the world and it’s inhabitants.
