Into the Wild Seminar Round Robin ? Give one adjective to describe your impression of Chris McCandless. Chapter 12 gives a quote that Chris highlighted from Thoreau: ?Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.? Keeping this quote in mind, how do you think Chris would have felt about the book, the movie, or the ?cult? status of his life? Is it necessary to suffer or give up comfort for a time in order to appreciate or understand the conveniences of modern life? Reflect on the book and your studies of transcendentalism. Many readers find it hard to have sympathy for McCandless; however, every critic points to Krakauer's power as a writer to evoke sympathy for the young man. Where do you stand on these issues?
