Hormones are commonly connected to the endocrine system?a collective group of tissues capable of secreting hormones. Characteristics of Hormones: Control: the hypothalamus-pituitary axis regulates many hormones Feedback: Hormones function w/in feedback loops Patterns: hormones exhibit patterns of secretion, metabolism, and elimination Receptor binding: hormone attraction and attachment to cells is essential to exert an effect Action: hormones act on target organs to achieve an effect or act on glands to produce another hormone.
