The Accession of “Tyler Too”
John Tyler became president in 1841 when William Henry Harrison died
He did not agree with Clay, Webster and other Whig leaders
Supported many Democratic issues, especially the Bank of the U.S.
Tyler vetoed an attempt by Clay to restore the Bank
Eventually expelled from the Whig Party and Whigs tried to impeach him
Webster-Ashburton Treaty
U.S.-Canada border around Maine was disputed
Treaty settled the dispute
