The First Modern War Alex Patterson The Civil War was one of the most gruesome and bloodiest wars in American history. In the fierce battles between brothers and fellow countrymen, innovative technologies were developed and used. These military advancements shaped the outcome of the war and were crucial in developing the war into the first modern war. In writing this paper, I was surprised by the amount of technology and innovativeness that was part of this momentous war.
