Migration definitions and concepts Activity space - The space we live in from day to day; that part of action space with which an individual interacts on a daily basis. The activity space of a small child may only be a few rooms in a house. This would grow steadily into adulthood and then decline again as they become elderly. Chain Migration ? occurs when a pioneering individual or group settle in a new place. As others are told of the advantages of the new location, they migrate; then they tell others? An example would be ?little Haiti? in the Miami area. Cyclic movement ? those who migrate for employment for limited periods Foreign employees move for a specific period of time before returning to their home countries (Mexico to United States).
