Matthew Watari Period 2 Chapter 13: Paths to Constitutionalism and Absolutism Parliamentary Monarchy Absolutism- I. Two Models of European Political Development -England?s form of government, power to a parliament. -France?s form of government, all power to the monarchy England -Nobility had little power, so they were able to go against the King. The King tried to make the nobility and the people afraid of him. -Puritanism- Protestant movement that sought to overthrow the monarchy. Religious disunity did not help the English Monarchy. -Parliament was not strong, did not meet regularly until the end of the 17th century. But parliament had power. France -Made the nobility and the people dependent on the King. Wanted people to need the King?s protection and guidance.
