?I think a true hero is one that sacrifices something valuable or himself/herself in order to save someone from any harm.? People like Superman and Wonderwoman often come to mind when one is asked to give an example of a true hero.? However a true hero does not ever have to be an individual that possesses supernatural powers.? Firemen and policemen are the true heroes in our society.? Everyday these men sacrifice their lives to save people from deadly fires and burglars.? Although these men are one of the true heroes in our society, I believe the most important heroes are the soldiers that fight for our country in Iraq or Afghanistan or whereever they may be stationed.? Every day, every hout, every minute, soldiers risk their lives to keep those they love safe.?

My Name 2 My Name 1 My Name My Teacher English 9H 3 November 2013 Odysseus: Epic Hero or Not? An ordinary man, minding his own business, suddenly is called on a journey with lots of hardships, comes back to his old home with tons of wealth, and becomes an epic hero in the blink on an eye. The characteristics call to action, going on a quest, going to a supernatural place, having a low point, and restitution all define an epic hero. Odysseus, in The Odyssey by Homer, has many defining characteristics of an epic hero, including experiencing a low point and finally having a restitution.
