Hohenzollerns, Hapsburg, and Romanoff dynasties all fall at the end of the war All of these families had eagles in their family crests ?The War to End All Wars? Causes of the War: The Alliance System Triple Entente Britain, France, and Russia Italy switches sides when they become the Allied Powers Triple Alliance Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy Turkey replaces Italy when they become the Central Powers. By getting Turkey, they were able to shut off Russia?s imports and exports (they control the Bosporus and Dardanelle straits.)
