Garret Morgan was brought into the world on March 4th 1877 in Paris Kentucky. He was an entrepreneur, an inventor of the 20th century. His parents Sydney Morgan and Elizabeth reed Morgan were former slaves. Garret was only able to finish elementary but mainly worked in the farm with his siblings. He was the 7th born out of 11 children. At the age of 14 while still a teenager he moved from Kentucky all the way North to Cincinnati, Ohio. While looking for a job he finally was able to find work as a landowner. At 18 years of age he moved north to Cleveland, Ohio where he worked as a sewing machine mechanic for a company.
