Harriet Tubman Timeline 1822- The Birth of Arminta Ross. My name is Arminta Ross and I born around the year of 1822 in Dorchester County, Maryland. Me exact birth date is unclear because slave owners at that time did not record their slave?s birth date. I was the daughter of Harriet Greene and Benjamin Ross. Born into slavery, I grew up often being sold into neighboring plantations. I was often referred to as ?Minta? or ?Minty? but later changed my name to Harriet Tubman after marrying a free black named John Tubman. With me being born, this marked the fate of all the blacks I saved later on in my life. 1849- Runaway of Harriet Tubman
