Time management skills, while hard to keep up with, are essential skills for effective people. Especially during times of applying for colleges and having to balance work, sports, activities, and school, gaining time management is important for teenagers. People who use these techniques become highly successful.
Most teens tend to put off important tasks over and over again. This is a huge downfall because the more one procrastinates the more that it stops them from achieving things they're capable of and disrupts their careers. If you are putting something off because you just don't want to do it, and you really can't delegate the work to someone else, you need to find ways of motivating yourself to get moving. Make up your own rewards, may an ice cream sundae at the end of your project. Ask someone else to check up on you and use peer pressure to its advantage to make sure you are on task. Identify the unpleasant consequences of not doing the job at hand. Don’t feel out the college applications on time; don’t expect to get in to the college you want. Other tips include find out where you’re wasting time, establish routines and stick to them, stay in control and fight against the distractions.
Many students discover the need to develop or hone their time management skills when they arrive at college. Unlike high school where teachers frequently structured your assignments and classes filled your day, in college, you will have less in-class time, more outside of class work, and a great deal of freedom and flexibility. College students often report that their inability to manage their time is the biggest problem they face in college. So it’s better to face these problems now, work through them, and be ready by the time you hit the campuses.
