To many high school students, summer break is a time of relaxation and freedom from school. But many students are wasting their precious minutes. What many students don't know is that summer break is an awesome opportunity to explore and prepare for college. Freshmen, sophomore, juniors, and seniors, here is how you could spend your summer break.

Freshmen: You have plenty of time to get ready for college. Start planning to receive good grades throughout high school. Review the classes you are going to take.

Sophomore: Make a list of colleges you want to attend and find out the requirements to get in. Although the list may change next year, you will have a sufficient amount of knowledge on each college. Over the summer, you can take classes in community college and receive high school credit. For example, if you want to advance in math, take a course that you are suppose to take this fall in community college. Make sure your school accepts the credit from community college.

Juniors: SAT/ACT is the most important thing you should concentrate over the summer. Take an SAT online course to prepare for the upcoming test. Sites such as College Board, ACT, Princeton, Kaplan, number2.com, and Barron’s offer an online course. While preparing for the SAT, you are also preparing for the PSAT which could get you a scholarship for college. If you have time between your studying, try to find a job or internship. You could write the experience you had on your college application.

Seniors: Going to college is right in front of you. Create a list of college that you want to attend to. Next to each college, write when the application is due, so you don't forget. Start practice writing your application by reading last year's essay prompt. Create a resume of your experience; organizations you attend, and award you have received. When you need a teacher's recommendation, give them your resume so they have more things to write about you.

By following these guides you will be prepared for the upcoming fall.
Always remeber to have FUN after you studied your butt off.
