The Start of Something New

When you first walk through those doors, it seems as though there are a million things racing through your mind and a million faces staring at you. Don’t sweat it! Starting high school is just another stop on that wild journey called life. As you look around, you see sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Don’t forget, all of those people went through the same thing that you are going through just a year or two ago.
If you have an older sibling at school, don’t feel like you can’t ask them for advice or help navigating your new school. But even if you don’t have an older sibling, there are plenty of students and faculty members who understand what you’re going through and are willing to help. It’s expected that your first few days will be tough, but once you’re settled in at high school everything seems to fall into place.
In my personal experiences, getting involved doesn’t hurt. When I joined the soccer team and joined a few clubs, I met a wide variety of people that were friendly, helpful, and understanding. It’s an exciting feeling when you’re walking to your classes and a familiar face smiles at you. The more you get involved, the more people you meet and once you’re involved, stay involved.
So all in all, the best way to deal with starting out in a new school is to get involved and stay involved. If you try new things and meet new people, you’re sure to enjoy your experiences at high school.
