World War II paper

Well I'm writing a paper on if the dropping of the atomic bomb on Japan, and whether or not it was necessary or not. This is the basic outline of my paper. Would anyone else have any suggestions as to how to make this stronger or easier to support? Is there another point I should make? I am supposed to be writing 3 pages on each side, then a 2 or 3 page analysis. Thanks!
Yes it was justified
1. Japanese had practiced germ warfare
-subjected chinese, saw them as inferior
2. Truman thought war wouldn't have ended otherwise
-fierce fighters, willing to fight to the end
3. Needed to show off to Soviet Union
-prevent possible threats after WWII ended

No it shouldn't have been dropped
1. effects of bomb
-people suffered, the pain
2. what it was meant to be used for
-szilard (creator) built it to prevent germany from threatening U.S. with one
3. It would set off an arms race

Here's some other arguements/counter-arguments to consider:

The Japanese Government and top military leaders were seriously considering and were planning on surrender.

Look at the timing of the bomb being dropped. Look at the day. What else was going on then?

Money. Come on, let's be realistic. You know it was a factor. Build a weapon that's not even used? Come on. That's just "a waste."

Use to prevent Germany from threatening U.S.- Was it built to just be used to prevent a German attack? Or was it a tool that was to be used overall?

Set off an arms race- Did it? Or was that the Germans who started trying to develop one? Was that the Japanese with their biological weapons?

People suffered- Did you see what they did to us? Was it not fair? Was it not justice?

Japanese had practiced germ warfare- Simple: If somebody jumped off of a bridge, would you?

Needed to show off to Soviet Union- Why? We could have just defeated them instead.

Another reason is to end the massive loss of life that would havew continued occurring in the Pacific with the Soviets

There is no future. There is no past. There's only us, there's only this. Forget regret or life is your to miss. No other road, no other way. No Day But Today!!!

To be honest, our concern wasn't the Soviet's loss of life. If anything it was to get to Japan before the Soviets.

Thanks! Should I also mention how the U.S. vowed not to kill Japanese Americans for decades to come?

That's an intersting angle that not many would take. I would deffienlty take using that into consideration, just be sure to back everything you say/write up with research. Cite your sources or your in some big trouble.
