Music Theory

Does anyone have a good way to practice music theory or know a website. I have been to all-state, but want to improve my sightreading to make the cut to the reading choir. haha, to those that know what I'm talking about, please help!

Well, here's a beginner/refresher site:
http://library.thinkquest.org/15413/theory/theory.htm

And this one covers up to intermediate, I believe:
http://www.musictheory.net/

Hope they help! If you find any other good site, tell me, I'm gonna be in Music Theory I this year, and choir theory is a heck of a lot different. ;)

If I find anymore, I'll notify you too.

Cha! Sweet, you so totally rock! Syncopation, my arch nemesis, perhaps with all three sites under my belt I will understand what I am doing.

So, what did you go to all-state for?

Syncopation...crap. I thought that word was dead. I went to All-state in 8th grade and 9th grade for the mixed choir and then 10th grade for the boys choir(kind of a step down, but the competition skyrocketed in my district). So, i figured I would take it upon me to make the sightreading choir, the highest atep in all-state for chorus.

Gods, if only, if only...

Thats really cool; my high school's male choir had eight members, not including my teacher, so that's pretty tight yours seems to have a good one.

no, no. I mean all-state..as in it includes all of the state. Our choir has about twenty to thirty guys including me. WAY more girls. We aren't doing bad, but we definitely don't a sightreading choir. lol, that would be amazing.

Ack! I am so sorry. That train did not stop at the station. Yeah, understood all-state, and boys choir, but apparently my brain fried at the connection site...

Well, we are online and one has to explicate things for others. Does your teacher actually teach you stuff?

Depends on what you mean by 'teach'.

He tries, but I was replaced in the beginning women's choir, and those freshmen were so rude! He never was really able to make the class listen, plus he expected things from them, they could not yet perform.

But, the upper choirs said they learned from him.

my teacher works hard, but he has too much on his platter to try and teach us music theory. I have to learn it myself and teach to the other people in my choir.

wow, this is a good website to actually look at music to sightsing. It looks like you are supposed to buy it, but it shows the music close up to work with it. It plays it also.
