Need Notes?
While we strive to provide the most comprehensive notes for as many high school textbooks as possible, there are certainly going to be some that we miss. Drop us a note and let us know which textbooks you need. Be sure to include which edition of the textbook you are using! If we see enough demand, we'll do whatever we can to get those notes up on the site for you!
Quote:I agree with your statements on forced prayer, becuase it should not be forced in any way, however, I do not believe it should be outlawed period. You are correct in this. Prayer should not be outlawed. Outlawing prayer is removing the Freedom of religion. However, forcing others to pray is removing their same freedom.
Quote:By the way in reference to privacy, that was ruled for the actions of people, contraception, not activities with terrorists. The ruling still supports the freedom/right to privacy to American Citizens. The Patriot Act allows for the invasion of privacy of American Citizens with reason or just cause.
Quote:The Supreme Court has NO jurisdiction over foreign policy, their only purpose is to deal with Constitutional matters such as interpretation.
The Supreme Court does have jurisdiction over foreign policy. It is stated in the constitution.
Quote:Jurisdiction. According to the Constitution (Art. III, §2):
“The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;—to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls;—to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction;—to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party;—to Controversies between two or more States;—between a State and Citizens of another State;—between Citizens of different States;—between Citizens of the same State claiming Lands under Grants of different States, and between a State, or the Citizens thereof, and foreign States, Citizens or Subjects.(bold added for emphasis)

Quote:The ACLU still holds communist perspectives by their actions and the stands they take such as through affirmitive action.
I say again:
Quote:It may have been founded for communism, but that does not mean that it is a communist organization now, even though it may have some of the same views as communist.
Their is no doubt that they do have similar views to communist, but that does not mean that they are a communist organization.
This is all great to read but lets get back to the issue at hand, if the democrats are now in power how will this effect U.S. policies. Both of you are having a great debate on various things but truthfully I'm more interested on your different views on how this uprising of democratic power will effect policy both in the U.S. and foreign policy. I would love to see the arguement from both sides, a democrat and a republican, as I am a liberal, but not a democrat(Green Party all the way) and hold my own views on the situation.
I believe that it will give American's back more of our freedoms. As far as foreign policy, it will have both a positive and a negative effect. I believe that the Democrats will offer an opposite point of view to what the Republicans have offered, however I do not believe that a quick withdrawal proposed by many Democrats is the correction at hand. We must finish the job since we are there.
Also, while I am a registered Democrat, I am planning on changing my official registration status to Independent. There is good and bad about both parties. While I deffiently lean towards the democratic views, there are something that I disagree with within the Democratic party.
