What Theories Should be taught?

This has been on the news very recently and different states have different opinions: Should we teach the the theory of evolution from apes as well as the theory of the creation of man? Or just one of the theories? Or neither?

Well the biblical story of the creation of man is not meant to be taken literally. This is quite obvious since there are two stories of creation in the bible. This makes it impossible to take a literal viewpoint of the biblical idea. If people would only realize this, there would be no arguments over weather or not to teach evolution. Evolution makes so much sense and its evidence can easily be seen in rapidly mutating bacteria.

err, sorry, let me clarify - some science teachers want to include a section where they describe some greater power that created humans, do you think we should be teaching this?

Only if it is a secular school, if not, then teach evolution.

i heard about Kansas getting crazy abou tthis too. they are now teaching of a greater creator. i dont know what to say of this...because a child could not have heard of a religiion and its teachigns although he's heard of the name Jesus or Buddah. i have no idea, i need to give this more thought.

eh, to me it's kind of unfair to other religions, i mean, so we're going to learn how we were created from god's rib but not different religious theories? if we were to teach the christian theory of how we came to be, we should teach the other religions' theories - which would just take up wayyy too much of the year, so i guess you'd have to offer it as a separate class? idk...just teach science...

I dont see why not... I mean in World History everything after A.D. is about religon till like the 19th century. If we can talk about Christianity in World History I dont see why we should be able to explain both sides of the theory in school.

You don't talk about Christianity, you talk about Christianity's impact on history.

Two very different things.

Evolution is a fact not a theory. Save creationism for Comparitive Religion classes.

Evolution is a theory. There are not many things that are laws in science. But I do think that religious reasons should not be taught in science classrooms. If the parents feel so strongly about it, why don't they just teach their own children their view?

"But," say Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It

Oh really? Then why is it that in all science books and scientists still call it a theory??? Because it isn't entirely accurate - it's still being tested and observed!!! If it's a fact, please give me some examples that show that this theory is 100% fact.

I agree with piano...there are many things that science is not able to explain... I don't think that Creationism will ever be taught at school because lots of people agree with Darwin's theory...

The below statement is false.
The above statement is true.
