Procrastination = Sleep Deprived

I know I shouldn't be up til 1AM every night...only to get up at 6AM. I know I should minimize the amount of time I spend distracted. I know I shouldn't start my hw at 7 (or later...).
But I still do it.
Do any of you guys get to sleep early? How on earth do you motivate yourselves to get your hw/studying done quickly and efficiently? HOW DO YOU MINIMIZE YOUR PROCRASTINATION?!?
Yeah we all know procrastination is bad, get rid of distractions, etc etc. But I find myself daydreaming or doing just about anything to get out of hw (even if the phone, laptop, mp3 player, tv are all away from me).
What is effective for YOU? Do you get a decent amount of sleep?

You could try planning which homeworks you want to do first. Planning motivates me and ultimately i don't procrastinate.

Do you write down a list of everything that you need to get done?

Yes I do. I'm just trying to find an effective way to beat procrastination. New year...new habits.

I feel you, the same happens to me on occasion. I have discovered that, as for studying the night before big tests, a quick overview with a good night's sleep and a big breakfast works a lot better than cramming. I feel like my mind is crystal clear compared to the fogginess I had to deal with previously.

I do the same thing. Im not the kind of person who can just go to sleep without studying, I have to cram. One thing I do is drive to the library the day before a test and just sit down and study. There's nothing else to do there besides study, so you HAVE to study. It works.

Also, if you study with a friend or in a group then you hold yourselves accountable, and its alot easier to study when you're saying things out loud and talking about it with other people.

Hope this helps!

I'm not so much a group worker - my classmates get off topic easily. And I have to study the night before a test, otherwise I don't feel prepared.
But thanks for the library idea hawkslove! I tried it today and got a ridiculous amount of work done! It's awesome! I might actually get some sleep tonight haha.

1AM? i've had 3 all nighters during the first semester alone..
procrastination is a huge problem for me too. i usually start my homework at around 9pm lol.
the best way to not procrastinate, i guess, is to FORCE yourself to do the work.

I feel you man. Been up two straight days, doing 11 chapters. Have to finish by tomorrow, and I probably won't finish, since I can't seem to find one specific chapter in the book anywhere..... But anyway, getting over your procrastination is hard. But I'm slowly doing it. Pretty much, the hardest part is the first part. Make sure your not distracted I guess, maybe get someone to keep you on task, but it should be pretty easy after you calm down a bit and completely focus on the task at hand.

I guess what I'm trying to say is force yourself at first, then you just kind of ease into the work.

Another tip is to just time box your tasks.
