Help (not with a prompt)

Lately, I've been freezing whenever we have to write an essay. I don't know why. I know the material. I'm generally good at writing. I shouldn't be having such a hard time with it. For example: a couple weeks ago we wrote a free response on Reconstruction. I got a 60 on it. When I reread it, I realized that it really didn't make sense because I'd never made my point in it. Yesterday, we wrote a DBQ on the "Robber Barons" and Social Darwinism. I was very well prepared for the essay. Coach had let us take the materials home overnight, and I had worked hard on getting ready for the essay. I was very confident. I got to class, and something happened. All I managed to get out was a page long intro paragraph... Is that sad or what?
I don't know what the matter with me is. I really not like this usually. Has this ever happened to anyone else? If so, can you help me out?
Thanks.

Madeen

That's pretty bad. I I have to say really is to calm down. If your teacher lets you listen to music on an ipod during test, then do that. If not, don't do anythign fro a minute or two and jsut relax, and calm your nerves a bit. Yes, you will lose 5 minutes off the test, but at least it's better than spending 5 minutes extra and writing about nothing. then, slowly and calmly, think about the topic and don't freak out if you don't understand it. It usually helps. Hope it helps you too. ^^

capitalization? who the heck came up with this horrible rule?!

Thank you very much. :)
On Monday, I'll ask him about listening to music. He's generally pretty cool about stuff like that, and that's a great idea.
Thanks so much for your help!
