The Death Penalty

For or against?

Personally, I'm against.
- It's rather hypocritical (lets show you how wrong killing is by killing you).
-There is no way to be absolutely 100% positive that that the accused did the crime, so punishment shouldn't be so irreversible (not to say that prison time is truly irreversible, but you can be released if later found not guilty)
- I don't see it as that much of crime deterrent, if you have the amount of motivation neccessary to commit a crime that is worthy of the death penalty, I don't think it would stop you.

And this is personal opinion of course, but given the choice of life behind bars or the death penalty, I'd definitely take the death penalty.

I'm with you, erikvarho. I think that its a bad idea and I'm against the principle of it. I will not, though, mourn for the serial killers and rapists that we've executed. I think in all honesty a better punishment is life in prison without the possibility of parole. Then you have to spend your entire life sitting around thinking about what you did. I can't imagine how horrible that would be.

Personally I'm for it. Think about it, Some people deserve to die for the crimes they committ. Plus, the Death Penalty will always be there unless there is a massive campaign against it.
Just my opinion. :)

If there were a way to guarantee that someone did the crime, I would say use it! BUt since there isn't, what we should do is create a real life sentence in our states, since murder is a state charge, that puts people in prison until they die with no paroll.

Tookie is dead! That I agreed with.

Some of you may think that it's a stupid quote from a stupid book (or movie), but I believe in this statement. This is all that I'll say on the subject.

I am for the death penalty. The reason so many crimes are being committed in this time and age is bc ppl know that they can go and kill someone and get just do some time in jail and then get out. If the Gov would crack down on crimes that matter the U.S. would be much better off. bc some one who rapes some one gets less time in jail than someone who sales drugs which they are both wrong but one is alot worse than the other but u get less time for it. The person who raped someone should get the death penalty and if u kill one or more ppl than u should get the death penalty and those sick ppl that mess with lil kids should also get the death penalty.
