SATs

Who doesn't enjoy spending a Saturday morning in a classroom with strangers taking a 150+ question test that includes an essay? I don't.

But it's necessary, everyone needs to take the SAT, either that or the ACT. But we sure as anything don't want to take the thing more than once. I remember the first time I took it, I got out at 1:15 in the afternoon and silently vowed, "Never again."

Of course, I took it again. But that was it! Just twice, and I'm thankful for that. There are kids in my class who have taken the SAT more than four times! That's something approaching 24 hours devoted to one test.

Now, you may be asking, "Well then, how can I pull off a good enough score to the point where I only need to take it once?"

There are three roads to take here:
1. SAT prep class. Spend either a summer or a semester in a class anywhere from one to four times a week, two to five hours a day. Spend a lot of money on said time. Possibly/probably do well on the test.

2. Lower your standards! If you sleep on the ground, you can't fall off the bed!

3. Follow a few basic guidelines that I've got in store. I've seen kids go from 1700s to 2100+.

More to come,
EC
