B and Be are electropositive compared to nonmetals. They do not make double or triple bonds.
They do not have the ability to take electrons from more electronegative nonmetals.
N can end up with an odd number of electrons.

I WRONG: each orbital can only hold 2 electrons. This represents 3 electrons per orbital.
