Cadmus: in Greek mythology, a prince who killed a dragon and sowed its teeth, which turned into an army of men who fought one another; with the five survivors of the battle, Cadmus founded Thebes.
Oedipus asks what the priests are praying for.
The priest is answering that there is a plague in the city of Thebes, and that Thebes needs help.
The priest says that Oedipus saved them, and asks for help once more.
