They learn from the consequences. Classical Conditioning- One stimulus calls forth the response that is usually called forth by another stimulus. Reinforcement- the process by which a stimulus increases the chances that the preceding behaviour will occur again. Negative Reinforcement vs. Punishment- punishment does not teach a good behaviour, only what the bad behaviour is. negative reinforcement is unpleasant in ways such as discomfort, fear, or social disapproval Shaping- a way of teaching complex behaviours in which one first reinforces small steps in the right direction.
