Vectors [12]

Equilibrants Example 1: There is a river with a current that has a velocity of 3 m/s in a direction of east. A man is trying to get straight across the river. His boat has a velocity of 4 m/s. What angle does he need to face the boat to move directly across the river? Explanation: We have 3 vectors in this problem: 1. The boat going straight across from point A to point B, which is the resultant. 2. The boat?s vector in calm water, which is the vector pointed at North West and has a magnitude 4 m/s. 3. The river?s current, which is 3 m/s going east. An object often looks like they are directed toward an angle, but they are actually going straight
