Research: Hypertonic means that the inside of the gummy bear has a lower concentration of water molecules than the solution, causing water to enter the gummy bear. Hypotonic means that the inside of the gummy bear has a higher concentration of water molecules than the solution, causing water to leave the gummy bear.
