Ism?s The suffix ?ism? means belief in, often used to describe theories and concepts. Absolutism ? the principle of holding total power in a government, example: dictatorship Anarchism ? the goal to overthrow and erase all forms of government, movement especially in tsarist Russia Animism ? religion that sees gods and spirits in nature and uses them to help control and explain life, more primitive belief, especially in early Mesopotamia Anti-Semitism ? hating Jews Buddhism ? religion based on the Indian prince Siddhartha Gautama and his philosophy on enlightenment and nirvana, practice of it found mainly in India, China, and South Asia
