AP UNITED STATES HISTORY SELECTED TOPICS PROJECT PURPOSE: This assignment is to allow students an opportunity to explore aspects of AP United States History of personal interest that may not otherwise be part of the general focus of the course. The project will require the student to become an ?expert? on a specific event and/or issue in America?s history through research and analysis. He/she will demonstrate their mastery through a presentation and seminar discussion. ASSIGNED TASK: Research & Analysis ? You must write a thesis statement relative to your topic, support your thesis with at least 7-10 facts/examples, along with an analysis of those facts, and formulate a final conclusion based upon your research. [You are required to submit your thesis statement

Essay Guide Thesis: Make a STRONG thesis statement! Answer the question addressing the change over time of the era. Divide it up into usually three categories. Body Paragraphs: Topic Sentences need to be specific concise and answer the questions, should be in the same order as the categories listed in your thesis. Include TONS of SFI (specific factual information) to PROVE what you?re saying in the essay. ANALYZE that specific factual information. Conclusion: Not all that important. Do it if you have time as long as you get the body paragraphs done and include the sustainable information. Basically repeats the thesis in different words.

AP World Thesis Survival Kit COMPARE AND CONTRAST A good basic compare and contrast thesis should read something like the following: 1) While [ this culture or topic] is somewhat similar to [that culture or topic ] in terms of [ these particular political, social, and economic events and themes ] , the two cultures are somewhat different in terms of [ these particular political, social, and economic events and themes ] NOTE: If you are very familiar with the two topics being compared, you should use more opinionated qualifying words that show your knowledge. For example, instead of writing >>> ?While [ this culture or topic] is somewhat similar?.? You should write >>> ?While [ this culture or topic] is very similar?.?
