In the second half of Women of Brewster Place, Gloria Naylor continues her the theme she set forth in the first half. Throughout the story, Naylor uses her novel to portray a series of negative experiences the women of Brewster place had with the men in their life. As the story progressed, Naylor outlined the deep internal struggles that faced the women of Brewster Place very effectively; she did a great job of painting the life story of each of the women. Through the portrayal of the women?s life, I believe it would be fair to say that Naylor used her platform too in a way give men a bad reputation, because in the novel most of the negative things that happened in the film were as a result of the actions of different men.

Morgan Torbert P8 Dinner Party Character Sketch March 2nd 2011 Pope Leo XIII: A Church Revolutionary It has been a long time since the Pope has had major influence in European policies. Pope Leo worked hard to put the papacy back into the action. Pope Leo XIII is best known for the development and understanding of religious education and of social philosophies. He also defined the Church in society with regard to more modern thoughts and applications. He eventually became the 256th Pope of the Catholic Church. This was a revolutionary way of looking at the combination of church and state. It helped to reassert the Pope and the church into politics and the worldview. This is an important development to understand the change in the role that the church plays in more modern society.

Chapter 15 120 Chapter 15: A War for Union and Emancipation, 1861-1865 Overview Southerners may have talked about ?states? rights? or ?property rights? but they were going to war to preserve the political economy of slavery. Both sides began to mobilize men and supplies to the battlefield by the summer of 1861. In 1862, Lincoln adopted the radical Republican position that emancipation was a military necessity. Eventually Lincoln justified the war in abolitionist terms. After the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect (January 1863) the war lasted
