Pope Leo worked hard to put the papacy back into the action. Pope Leo XIII is best known for the development and understanding of religious education and of social philosophies. He also defined the Church in society with regard to more modern thoughts and applications. He eventually became the 256th Pope of the Catholic Church. This was a revolutionary way of looking at the combination of church and state. It helped to reassert the Pope and the church into politics and the worldview.
