Detail Selection- 
 What the author chooses to or chooses not to include.

 Author’s voice: where you can tell how the author feels about the subject-VERB CHOICE.

 Diction-

CHAPTER 9 CHRISTIAN EUROPE , 300-1200 CHAPTER NOTES a. Early Medieval Europe, 300-1000 A. From Roman Empire to Germanic kingdoms a. In the 5th century the Roman Empire broke down. Europe was politically split, with Germanic kings ruling a number of different kingdoms. b. Western Europe continued to suffer invasions as Muslim Arabs and Berbers took the Iberian Peninsula and moved into France. c. In the 8th century the Carolingians united various Frankish kingdoms into a larger empire. At its height, under Charlemagne, the empire included Gaul and parts of Germany and Italy. The empire was subdivided by Charlemagne's grandsons and never united again.

Iliad Author, Selection & Connection Summaries Author Summary: Oral poetry was developed in Greece before writing was, so the poetry was either memorized or improvised depending on the poet/actor as long as they had the basic plot line it worked. When writing finally appeared, the poems were written down. Even though people consider Homer the greatest oral poet of his time, no one knows anything about him for sure. Legend says that he was blind, and that he composed the two building blocks of epic poetry, the Iliad and the Odyssey, which in are presumed to have originated in the 7th or 8th century BCE.

Led Zeppelin was rock's first real Heavy Metal band. Yet many of their fans were not even fans of metal music. They came about after guitarist Jimmy Page, (who was rock's most sort after session man in the early and mid sixties) was left with what was the remains of theYardbirds. He had join the Yardbirds to record with them on what would be their final album, Little Games in 1967. In the spring of 1968, Page played lead guitar on Donovan's song "Hurdy Gurdy Man" which also featured bassist John Paul Jones. Jones had heard rumors that the Yardbirds might break up and told Page he would like to be part of any new band he might put together.
