Wilson?s ?God-like? vibe and aggressive attitude to accept the treaty were part of his downfall. Henry Cabot Lodge Senior, a Republican, who did not completely oppose the treaty, wanted fourteen reservations on the treaty. Stubborn Wilson refused to listen to Lodge and the treaty was defeated twice, both with and without the reservations. Wilson?s ineptitude, stubbornness, and ignorance lead to the demise of the Treaty of Versailles.
