One of the main ones is that you use the position of the decimal point in the dividend to show the decimal places in your answer. The rest just falls into place. Easy First Steps Identify your divisor as a whole number or decimal. If your divisor is not a whole number, move the decimal place all the way to the right in order for it to become a whole number. Then count up how many spaces you moved it and move those same spaces on the dividend.
