The painting Primavera can be closely attributed to artist Sandro Botticelli who lived from 1445 to the year of 1510. This painting was published in the year of 1482. I have attributed this painting to Sandro Botticelli because this painting can be concluded to be about mythology which he has painted about before but mythology is not his only strong area, he has also painted in terms of religious values. I also attributed this painting to 1482 because this was during the age of the early Renaissance time period where idealism was becoming popular in people?s views and beliefs. The subject matter of this painting would be Mythology. This painting is depicting Greek gods and goddesses and the painting is ultimately foreshadowing the coming of a new world.

The landscape features chiaroscuro, sfumato (Leonardo?s signature style) and fingerprints on the edges of the prickly tee to smudge and blend the edges to softness. There is also ?thee-quarters view? where instead of showing the full profile of Ginevra, Leonardo paints her in a three quarter view. This helps the viewer imagine more of her individual identity and personality. Finally Ginevra?s simple clothing helps emphasis Ginevra as the main subject. Her full profile hints at an indifferent intellect, leaving the viewer curious at the ?intentions of her soul?.

The representation of the human figure in a culture?s artwork reflects the central values of the culture that artwork belongs to. A marble sculpture from the Greek Period, Kroisos, found in Anavyssos and made around 530 BC and a hand-painted ceramic Mochica Portrait vessel from around 400 AD both express an individual value system from each of their cultures. Kroisos, a marble statue from Greece, has many features that link him to the Greek values placed on the human body. This sculpture is idealized with defined muscles and natural proportions. The Greeks saw the human body as perfect. It was used in many and nearly all forms of art because it was seen as the center of all things and the ideal form of perfection.
