One function of the sepals is to protect the flower while it is forming a bud. 2a. Record the number of petals - what advantage do colorful petals provide for the flower? There were 6 petals on my flower. Colorful petals attract pollinators such as bees to come and pollinate the flower. 2b. Why are sepals considered accessory parts of the plant? Sepals are considered accessory parts of the plant because they are not directly involved in pollination. 3a. Record the number of stamens and give 1 function.
