Michelle Zayas Catholic Social Teaching 10/26/2015 Chapter 5a #2 Subsidiarity ? Different parts of our society, or in this case, let?s just say city, should come together to do the best possible good for everyone who lives here. Those who are helping should live here, and not those people (or authorities) who run things in politics (like politicians in Austin or even Washington, D.C.) I believe that anyone can understand this idea one you simplify it. The word subsidiarity, if not fully understood, sounds like something that only happens in higher government and can only be handled through them. #6

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the ability of a computer to perform functions in a manner analogous to human decision making and learning. For instance, the GPS systems use automated learning, perception, reasoning, and understanding to find the best route that a user should take from several possible alternatives. However, the increase in effectiveness of AI?s has resulted in concerns about the potential risks that may result from such advances. Some of the concerns are about the possibility of the AI?s becoming ?superintelligent? and thus threatening the survival of humankind. Notably, just like ordinary softwares, AI softwares are subject to programming errors. Therefore, if these errors occur in sensitive AI applications such as health care, they may result in

Topic 1 Assignment The three topics that I have chosen to examine for the first assignment are: reproduction, adaptation and homeostasis. All eight the components that are necessary to be termed a living entity are worthwhile, but these are the three that most peaked my interest in which I wanted to learn more about the process in answering necessary assignment questions. Reproduction Every living thing has to be able to reproduce in order to maintain being a living thing. Every living organism, eventually dies. If there is no reproduction or offspring, that species, would eventually die out or become extinct. Examples of organisms that reproduce are everywhere around us in the world, from plants and animals to parasites and red blood cells.

1 APES- Chapter #3- Guided Reading Assignment The Big Picture: Systems of Change Name: ____________________________ Period: _______ Due Date: ______________ Summarize the ?Trying to Control Flooding of the Wild Missouri River? Case study People considered the river to be something that was a steady state system and something that could be controlled. This was not the case and it still flooded despite the engineering and money put into the dams and levees. This shows us that it is very hard to try to control nature. Define the following and give examples of each: System: a set of components, or parts, that function together as a whole. Ex. Human body, sewage treatment plant, river
