AP World History?Chapter 7?Vocabulary List Silk Road: One of the first trade routes (land and sea) in the world, an ancient trade route between China and the Mediterranean Sea extending some 6,440 km (4,000 mi). Historical Significance: The use of these trade routes led to political, economic, religious, and social diffusion. Religions and cultures diffused through the trade route. The trade route also help spread new ideas about Christianity to far east Asia and spread ideas about mathematics and scientific knowledge. It also allowed for developing languages because they had to communicate to trade. Parthians: Parthia is a place in north east Iran. It is known for being the political and cultural base of the ?Arsacid dynasty,? who were rulers of the Parthian Empire.
