Seniority!

Sep 16, 2009

So you’re a senior? You’re the top of the food chain. You’re at the apex of the hill. But don’t let that get to you. Being a senior, though seemingly representative of the easiest year of high school, is still very important.
Don’t let your ego get to you! Though you are figuratively on the top, you shouldn’t act like it. Condescending attitudes are never wanted despite how high one is on the social hierarchy. Be kind and courteous and respect the people around you. Whether or not you believe in Karma, the act of being a genuine person is important for being an adult.
Don’t slack off in school! Sure, it’s the end, but don’t dig yourself deep into a hole you can’t get out of. Colleges still have the right to revoke your acceptance, so keep your work habits up. Start strong from the beginning, and finish strong! That reflects you as a person, and it’s good to display yourself as a diligent worker. You will always have the summer to loosen up.
Despite all this, and despite what most of this was about, have fun! It’s your last year of high school…EVER. Enjoy the last moments you’re in the classroom, the moments with your friends, and the moments that you share with all your teachers. Chances are, they will go a bit easier on you guys anyway, but make sure you handle your school work before anything else. Take the time to really take in all your experiences that you will encounter in the last year and appreciate the good and the bad. You only live like this once, and you will never have another chance to live like a highschooler again. Remember—both the good and the bad shape that you are, so make sure you learn from everything. Create the memories that you will remember 30 years down the line because you will never live through them again.
