Schedules- Planning a Perfect Year

Jul 15, 2009

Before you start a school year, there is something very important that each student must take care of, that is there schedule. A schedule is what each and every student will follow for their entire school year. In most schools, students are allowed to choose their schedules, and choose classes that they would like to take on in the following year. Now when creating this schedule, one needs to know their limitations, and what is expected of them. The first task in schedule creation, is to schedule classes that are necessary in the following year, this can also be known as a person’s core classes. These classes would include your math, English, science, and social science classes. Even these classes can be personalized as well, you can choose levels of the class to take, whether it be regular, honor, pre-AP, or AP. When choosing this, it all depends how much determination, and how much you expect to work the following year.

You will also need to calculate what type of class system your school uses, whether it be seven period, or block scheduling. This will determine the number of classes that you can fit on a schedule. Also, if you are in a certain program, for example music, this will take up class space as well. Once all necessary classes are done, now it is time to begin personalizing your schedule. You can now choose a foreign language, anyone that your school offers, choose one that you can handle, you will be learning it for years to come. If you are athletic, you can add some physical education classes to your schedule, if you are artistic, add a painting or ceramics class. There is a class for every person’s interest. When picking a schedule, the most important thing to remember, is make the schedule to match you, do not match yourself after the schedule is made. You will be following this schedule for a while, enjoy it.
