Social networking is the standard today, especially with students. Its unusual for people not to engage in some form of networking through technology, whether it is Facebook, Twitter or through cell phones. Social interaction is not the only use for networking, it can be used to boost your studies and progress your learning through crowdsourcing education.

Recently, a devastating earthquake struck the nation of Haiti. With an estimated death toll exceeding 200,000, this is amongst the decade's deadliest tragedies. The international community came together to help. President Obama promised $100 million in aid to Haiti. Likewise, a South American summit pledged $300 million. Course-Notes Senior Editor, Brooke Barnett, wrote an inspiring article about the efforts being made at her school and in her community. Please click here to read Brooke's article.

Many people (hopefully by now) have heard about the tragedy that happened to Haiti earlier this year. At my school this past week we had a charity drive for the relief effort. I know that many people who have heard of the Haiti effort have already forgotten what a tragedy that is still be-folding upon the Haitians. The main message that I want to get out is that the relief effort is still happening. I know that the initial shock factor is gone by now, but people in Haiti are suffering now. Most high school seniors, including myself, recently have undergone the stressful college application process. Now, we find ourselves waiting for the dreaded decision letters. Personally, I think the “wait” is more stressful than the actual process of applying. When I was working on my college applications, the stressful part is getting everything in on time. Now that everything is done, I feel helpless. There’s nothing more I can do. Many times, when listing our extracurriculars, we leave out one or two.

Recently, a lot has happened at Course-Notes. However, Course-Notes is back and fully functioning! I want to thank all the loyal members who continue to rely on Course-Notes despite the recent havoc. Your support is greatly appreciated. To all the seniors out there, the toughest part of high school is over. Most applications are sent and now, the only thing to do is wait for admissions decisions. It is never easy to get a rejection letter. However, that rejection does not mean you aren’t “good enough” for that school. It simply means that school does not think you are the best fit.
