It’s my first week of school. Well, the first four days of school. And it’s only the third day. Enough technicalities, down to the good stuff.

High school is fun. I’m a junior, so I know that, but I still like saying it. I think this year will be good because there are people in my classes who I don’t usually talk to and also some good friends. It’ll be nice to have diversity. (And hot girls!)

To be honest, I wasn’t that worried when high school started. Perhaps I should have been. While I can say with complete certainty that I have no regrets about my last four years in government mandated education, there are tips and tricks I wish someone would have whispered in my ear. But alas, I am the eldest sibling and therefore had to figure out my own way.

Saturday, August 22nd marked the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan. I am writing this article because ever since it has started my non-muslim friends are very curious as to what this Holy month is all about.

Fasting is the third pillar of Islam(out of five-they are similar to the 10 commandments). It is a must for all muslims. Ramadan is a time when from Sunrise to Sunset you do not eat or drink anything. Kind of like Lent, except we cannot have anything.

So, here’s what’s good. It’s August 23, 2009, a Sunday. I go back to school next Monday. Holy Sh*t.

This is the start of my blog. I’m here to show you what my life is like. As of this moment, I still have to complete some math summer work before school (not to mention have one last summer blast) and basically chill. I plan on doing weekly(ish) blogs about how miserable and funny high school is. I’ll tell you about myself now so that by the time school starts, you’ll understand me.

As of late there’s been quite a lot of hubbub on the news about the health care reforms that the country is very much divided on. I’m not here to spout off about what I think you should think, because I am not a political pundit, this is definitely not a forum for politics, and frankly I think the world would be a much happier place if the political pundits always at each others neck simply vanished, but this is also besides the point.

Is is just me or is everyone fed up with the phrase " You must be 18 years of age or older to...". Every decent job has an age requirement of 18 or older. Is this really fair to those who are above 16, can drive, and are mature for their age? Office jobs are out of the question, because supposedly all minors are preoccupied with drugs and sex to keep a steady job. But now, even jobs at the local malls are asking for over 18-ers(as I like to call them). This is a discrimination to the minors out there in DESPERATE need of employment.

Summer has many possibilities to go rock climbing, surfing, and much more. While many teenagers hang out with friends during summer it is also the opportunity to hang out with family. Time with the family is limited especially as people grow up and enter the world of adulthood. So while most teenagers just ask parents for money to go out with their peers more should realize parents can also be your friends. With no idea what to do with the parents here are some suggestions.

Summer is usually the season for plenty of fun outdoor activities. Whether it’s spending time at the beach, summer camp, neighborhood pool, or just hanging out in the backyard, everyone is looking forward to having a fun summer. Part of that summer fun means trying to be safe and cautious.

One of the first things students think about when they are about to go back to school is buying school supplies. Students have a false notion in their minds about school supplies. They believe if they buy a lot of their school supplies before school starts, they will do better in school. It is true that these students might be better prepared for school, but buying school supplies is not needed. When you go into higher grade levels, you start to realize that there is no need for spending a great amount of money on school supplies.

The time is finally here! In about a week, many of you will start school again. Excited? I’m sure for a lot of you, school has been your worst nightmare since Pre-K. All the assignments, tests, quizzes, clubs, and sport tryouts have boosted up your stress level to the extreme. I have to admit that school is very stressful, especially if you are going into high school where the GPA factor comes into play. In this blog, I would like to help many of you who are experiencing those levels of excessive stress to overcome them. I am going to HELP you deal with sport teams.
