Legalizing Marijuana?

I'm just curious to see what everyone thinks, since this is a major current issue. The city of Denver, Colorado just legalized...although it has no effect since it's still illegal in the state.

So, what do you all think?

It is NOT legalized!! They just made it so that if you have <1 oz. you don't get busted for it as it does not count as a felony, just a misdemeanor for which most cops don't bust you for.

It cannot be made legal in any state or county or city because the Federal Goverment already made it illegal. For it to become legal in a state or county the Federal Government must first legalize it.

Anyway, I do not think it should be legal for the simple fact that it is a drug. Period

I think, considering we are losing the war on drugs, the government should be thinking more along the lines of regulation and distribution ((boost to the farmers jobs and almost deffinately our economy) instead of elimination of the 'threat'. The main problem of legalization stems from taxation. How do you tax something that is already supplied on a black market? I think these problems could be overcome through a business like approach to the subject. I am for setting a minimun age for it.. 18 or 21.. like alcohal and cigs.

eh, not for recreational use but for medicinal purposes? i think it should be okay. it's actually less harmful in comparison to cigarettes. only it's also more addictive ithink.

If you do that then drug users will try to get all other drugs legalized.

Doctors are allowed by the federal government to prescribe small doses of marihuana for medicinal purposes.

Doctors arent allowed by fed gov to do that. Thats why the debate has arisen.. st goc. has allowed it in cases, and that contradicts fed gov.

Marijuana probably isnt more addictive than cigs.. do you know how many chemicals they put in them? Besides.. the only research done on marijuana involes extracting THC ((active ingredient..sorta)) and injecting it into mice... so we don't really know.

I dont think other drug users would have much room to speak.. how many other drugs grow directly out of the earth and are cut and dried alone before used? ((shrooms excluded))

My teacher for Pathology class is a Neurologist with 2 medical degrees and he is chairman of several hospitals and owns his own practice - he told us that doctors ARE allowed.

Marijuana is only psychologically addicting, not physiologically addicting. That's why it is categorized as a hallucinogenic drug.
