Need Notes?
While we strive to provide the most comprehensive notes for as many high school textbooks as possible, there are certainly going to be some that we miss. Drop us a note and let us know which textbooks you need. Be sure to include which edition of the textbook you are using! If we see enough demand, we'll do whatever we can to get those notes up on the site for you!

New reason that Lincoln was the "best" (to me)
He looks alot different then all the other presidents. He had BLACK hair and BLACK facial hair. This guy even had a tophat. Who in the world wheres tophats!?

Question to tucker: Did I ever say in any of my posts that I claimed the position of a deity or claim that any of my sample sources to be deity?
Answer: I didn't make any of these claims. There is only one person who ever walked this earth who can make such a claim but that is not the topic of this particular thread. If you look closer at my postings you would see that I acknowledge the imperfections of all humans including the ones that have been labeled as an "expert." This is one of the many insights that I have come to grips with over the past 4 years of college, that no one is perfect, everyone is equal, and you can't please everyone. If there is to be further discussion on my "deity claim" feel free to email me and I will reply within 1-2 days.
Andrew Johnson: "The best president"?!? Well, wasn't he impeached and nearly kicked out of office (by one vote) due to eleven charges that included obstruction of justice and appointing a person to gov't office without the consent of congress (which is illegal according to federal law)? Just food for thought.
Ulysses S. Grant: I would agree that he was one of the worse presidents but a pretty darn good general, because after all he did win in the end. The reason he lost more men in the long run is because he could afford to because the North had the population edge as well as the economic edge.

That's not very reasonable... Anyway, Lincoln didn't really fight for what he believed about slavery. Like erikvarho said, Lincoln never fought for the end of slavery and his Emancipation Proclamation didn't set slaves free in the North but only in the South. Lincoln wanted to stop the secession of the South and that was his main reason. By the way, Lincoln wrote in his letter to Horace Greely: "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and it is not either to save or destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave, I would do it," and he also stated this in Springfield: "What I would most desire would be the separation of the white and black races." ;)
I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception.
-Groucho Marx :p
안녕! 나도 한국사람이야, 도와줄까? 아니면 같Ǿ
You forgot the second part of that letter that said "and if I could do it by freeing all the slaves, I would do it." He also made a startling abolitionist statement in Chicago on July 10,1958. If you look at all of Lincoln's political statements, they're essentially propaganda, proslavery or noslavery. Lincoln saw a threat in both statements since he was mainly concerned with the poor white worker. Aristocrat slaveholders took up too much capital and land and left smaller farmers with almost nothing. However, a great mass of freed slaves would make too much competition for the poor white worker. Lincoln was essentially apathetic toward slavery and a fatalist. The best thing I've read about him was Richard Hofstadter's American Political TraditionIt provides a lot of insight on politicians.
Worst: Either James Buchanan or Jimmy Carter
Worst: Buchanan or Carter
Is That A Dancing Ninja Turtle!!!!!????!!!!!
Buchanan is my middle name, and my grandfather's name was Carter.
I think you're fine so long as you don't run for president. If you do decide to though, I don't think dwalk4 will be voting for you :p .
