Yep. Just find a career that interests you and find the schools that offer the classes you need to take. But jobs don't really look at your undergraduate school but grad...so, you can go to a decent state college for bachelor's and get your master's or Ph.D at a prestigious graduate schools, but that would be harder...

You live in Colorado; is high school education good there? Cause my state is like so dumb it's not even funny... Less than 50% in WA passed the stupid WASL!!!! That test is so dumb anyone can get 4 on all parts, but frankly, lots of kids are dumb here...

well ive just moved here about 3 weeks ago, so i'm not so sure about the state's standard of education..but the town that i live in have tremendous enthusiasm towards learning and education..(well at least my school :D) it's called Fairview Highschool, and i'm really really loving it here..there's so much support from everyone, the kids are really nice (almost all of them are so into something), and the schools huge (which actually wasnt a good thing when i first came here cuz i cudnt find all of my classes :S) about 40% of the students here take AP/IB courses...the school offers IB courses to students that don't wanna get the full course diploma...which is really nice cuz i dun wanna take IB in Lang comp and US history.

whew ive written so muchhhh lol sorry

Wow, at least you got a better school than me :(. I hate my school...many students who don't care about education, does drugs, gets drunk... but then there are students who actually does something with their life. Lots of kids here are nice too, but then they can do stupid things sometimes.

Big school :D? That's nothing when you go to college. It took me 15 minutes to walk across the campus to get to biochem at Hopkins and I got lost on my first day... so many doors... and then 30 minutes from dorms to all the way across campus and across the street, down the elevator, and across a long hall to talk to my class advisor. Whew, and the worst part was, it was always 90-95 degrees outside even at 8 AM...hot hot hot!

Lucky, I wish my school offered as many AP classes as I want...the only good thing is that we get 0.5 more credit on our transcripts...

Definately give any University out of state (especially here in Texas) a shot. Schools down here tend to look for diversity and love it.

as for the Thread topic:
I've applied ED to Washington University in StL
my top 4 are (above stated), NYU, Cornell, and UPenn

Wash U is my 1st choice because it actually has advertising as a major and i can do film/media studies as a minor, NYU is second because of its study abroad availability and location (advertisement/marketing central!!), Upenn is actually tied for second because they have this really cool tech/art program, but I'd have to apply then transfer into it because I could NOT apply directly for that degree (its under Engineering.
My 1st choice backup school is Agnes Scott (and maybe Syracuse, Drexel, Northeastern...it depends how much i suck).

My decisions were primarily based on location/majors offered/study abroad. I wanted either an Advert/Design major or the availability of art courses and the oppurtunity for film/media and marketing. Location was important because I not only need a good education, but an urban center nearby that has easily accessible internships and job oppurtunities.

Study abroad is important to me because I already speak 2 (almost 3) languages fluently, and I want to take advantage of that and try to take my marketing international (more $$). And i want to learn chinese...but thats besides the point.

I like WA U :D. I got a letter from them last week, and they wanted to know if I wanted to make them my first choice. But then Hopkins came at the same time and wanted to know if I was ready to do early decision . Both are good undergraduate schools and I like both of them. Both with good graduate schools too...for medicine... Hmm, I'll have to wait and see. Which will offer full ride...:p?
