the chesapeake region was comprised of virgina and maryland. both grew tobacco but the main cash crop in the chesapeak was tobacco and was rice in the carolinas. virginia and south carolina settlers were wealthy landowners. north carolina was made of landless dissenters who differed from their wealthy counterparts. north carolina became more democractic than both virginia and south carolina. maryland was established as a catholic haven but with the majority as protestants the result was religious tolerance for everyone except jews and atheists.

black slaves had a harder time in the rice patties of the carolinas because of the hot temperature, disease, and bitter toil. life in the chesapeake was bad as well but not to the extent of the carolinas.

What is
THE Green Springs Group ( I googled and the only thing that came up was an insurance company present-day)
Scrooby Congregation
Earl of Shaftesbury
Sir George Carteret
Georgia Trustees
John Coode
"dame schools"
Extractive Industries
Charles Carroll of Carrollton

green springs group- ?? ? there was a green springs plantation that was involved in Bacon’s Rebellion in 1676 and the Battle of Green Spring in 1781, the freeing of its slaves in 1803, and destruction of the Ludwell-Lee manor house by the Union army in 1862. that's the closest thing i got

Scrooby congregation- formed by richard clifton who attempted to establish a separatist congregation in the gainsborough area in 1607 in holland. famous member- william bradford. many of the members of this congregation journeyed on the the mayflower to plymouth.

Earl of Shaftesbury- a title that was created in 1672 for anthony ashley cooper who turned against charles II in the english civil war and is the founder of the whig party.

Sir George Carteret- the proprietor of east jersey originally and then was granted proprietorship of carolina in 1664 w/ berkeley and part of new jersey.

Georgia trustees- several trustees that ruled for 21 years in georgia. they later relinquished their hold in favor of a royal governor.

John Coode- a minister in maryland who lead a rebellion to overthrow maryland's catholic leaders in office in 1689. he was involved in four rebellions.

dame schools- the common man's private school for children under 15 years

Extractive Industries-industries that extract raw material directly from the earth. these industries fueled new england economy- fishing cod.

Charles Carroll of Carrollton- lawyer and politican in maryland who was a delegate of the continental congress and a us senator. he was the only catholic signer of the declaration of independence.

sry i was kinda late on getting back to you!

For anyone who's interested the Green Springs Group was actually Sir William Berkeley's inner circle in his governor's council. I was stumped too until I stumbeled across this website and the other person (sorry I didn't happen to notice your name) mentioned about Bacon's Rebellion so I finally had a point of reference and found it in my textbook.

Look around the main site. It's there...

"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," say Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It

In my defense, I had just spent, oh, 8 hours trying to install an arcade about about 12-15 trying to find out why it wouldn't let me into it.
