While we strive to provide the most comprehensive notes for as many high school textbooks as possible, there are certainly going to be some that we miss. Why Me?
I just get an outline to fill in when I read chapters. I feel like there is not point in even showing up for class other than to take a quiz or a test. BUT, in my teacher's defense I feel like that's what a college class is. The quizzes from your neighbor thing sounds like a stretch, but it's probably just trying to get you to understand the main points of the chapter. I swear by this site and the outlines I get from it. I don't even reread the book to study.
I enjoy my class. It's difficult and not fair sometimes (regarding the teacher's grading policy... tests count 50% on semester grade) but neither is life. I'm also taking AP english and we pretty much learn the same stuff twice which is good. My teacher has review sessions at her house a couple of nights before a test, she lectures, she helps, and I spend alot of time around her anyways (she is the adult influence of the junior class and I'm historian) so I get as much help as I need. Yes it is a college class but that doesn't mean you have to restrict yourself to the classroom... you can research on your own and ask questions (before the test, not after) also group study sessions help alot. And if you say you don't have time... I say your full of it... I manage decent grades like I always have, study, go to swim practice for 2 1/2 hours, work(at a rock climbing place which is really fun), have family time, friend time, and time to support my junior class. I also enjoy long walks on the beach, movies...(ha ha)

my teacher dont do shiat...we use an ap book when we r not even ap and all she does is summarize the chapter ...
We read the chapter and take notes ourselves, then we spend anywhere from 1-4 days dicussing the chapter in class. During these discussions we have random conversations that in no way pertain to history. In a given 45 min class we only spend about 20 mins talking about history. At the end of about 3 chapters we have a huge multiple choice test.
Basically we are responsible for learning and being prepared ourselves. The teacher does nothing but add some tidbits of information and make the tests.

Yeah... My teacher lectures for 25 minutes a day then does nothing. Kills dozens of trees a week with pointless scans from a book we dont even have and then gives us tests and quizes but no homework. then when he says he's working us to hard... we're like...yeah. He pulls the its a college course this to but its kinda like I know its a college course but right now your screwing us over for the AP test b/c your not teaching us how to do things like this. I hate him but your situation is by far worse.
My teacher's pretty awesome. She's pretty erratic in behavior, but generally quite hyper and passionate about the subject. The whole class always laughs every time we meet, so it's fun. She requires a 30+ minute presentation each semester - my partner and I got the topics, "Manifest Destiny and the War with Mexico" and "A House Divided: Events leading up to the Civil War" so we did a Jerry Springer spin-off for the first half, and then I dressed up as a factory and her as a cotton ball to discuss sectionalism and other events up to the Civil War.
I think she's preparing us fairly well. We do 20-30 IDs every week, assigned on the first class of the week and due the first class of the next (we do 4 block days, alternating between blocks ABCD and EFGH, which rotate after every other day) We do the IDs and analyze primary documents, then she spends all of an hour and twenty minutes lecturing every other day. We get a DBQ or FRQ every once in a while, with no take-home essays, and a multiple choice test every couple chapters of American Pageant.
I know for a fact that she's been an AP European History reader for several years. Maybe APUSH, too, but I'm not certain. I'm not too worried. I think half of the APUSH students in my school last year scored a 5 on the exam, with most of the rest scoring 4s. Less than 10 (maybe around 5) people got 3s and I don't think anybody got a 2 or 1.

IDs are basically who-what-when-where-why-significance blurbs on important people, events, etc. My teacher requests them to be no longer than half a page (though sometimes with ones like Abraham Lincoln or Transportation Revolution they drag on longer) but some teachers set a limit of a few sentences.
FRQs are free-response questions. DBQ minus the documents, sort of. They recommend you write them in 30-35 minutes. They're like essays.
