The nature of imperialism transitioned from neighboring groups conquering one another for territorial expansion to entire nations competing for global economic, political, and cultural power. Today, the exponential growth of technology and industry is creating one globalized economy. This global economy has found a way to transcend the boundaries large hegemonic powers historically could never unite, changing the nature of nations.
