Name Date Pluralism AP Government, Mr. Glass Pluralism is the theory that a multitude of groups, not the people as a whole, govern the United States. These organizations, which include among others unions, trade and professional associations, environmentalists, civil rights activists, business and financial lobbies, and formal and informal coalitions of like-minded citizens, influence the making and administration of laws and policy. Since the participants in this process constitute only a tiny fraction of the populace, the public acts mainly as bystanders.

Fiscal and Monetary Policy: Like Cousins To further complicate the already overly complex ways of government policy making, there are two tools used by the federal government to influence the United States economy. These are fiscal policies, such as the Budget Control Act of 2011, and monetary policies, like the Federal Reserve upping interest rates for short-term loans in 2010. They complicate policy making because fiscal policy is run by the legislative and executive branch, while the power of monetary policy is given to the Federal Reserve Board.

Environmental Benefits and Consequences of Genetic Engineering Environmental benefits and consequences includes those related to industrial companies, agriculture and animals. One of the industries that have greatly impacted genetic engineering is the timber industry. The timber industry has always been a key to the health of the economy in North America, but many conservationists have been concerned about clear-cutting practices and the huge reduction in forests the past century. Lumber companies have sometimes exhausted their own natural resource. The solution of genetically modified (GM) trees looks so promising to several large paper companies that they have joined together in an enterprise called the ArboGen, a $60-million venture

Jake Gustafson Constitution Fourteenth Amendment This article was written on August 31 by the New York Times. It is addressing the current problem with president Obama and Congress. That problem is that they cannot agree on a deficit reduction plan. Now this is exactly what it sounds like in the fact that we as a country are in a big debt and need to fix it. Since the current plan is about to expire, they need to put a new one in place or we will not have one at all. If we do not have one at all for any amount of time it could really hurt our economy. Putting us in an even bigger debt then what we are in now.
